Lalu Labels PM Modi “Inauspicious” After India’s World Cup Loss

Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad has stirred controversy by dubbing India’s Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi as “inauspicious” following India’s defeat to Australia in the World Cup final.

Lalu expressed his disappointment over India’s loss, attributing it to what he considers the “ill-fated nature” of the country’s PM. The RJD leader made these remarks during while talking to reporters in Delhi on Thursday, echoing similar sentiments previously expressed by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who had used the term ‘Panauti‘ to describe PM Modi.

A day before his comments on PM Modi’s inauspiciousness, Lalu took a swipe at the BJP, asserting that if the Central Government fails to grant special status to Bihar, the RJD will endeavor to topple the Narendra Modi government in 2024 general elections.

The recent passage of the Reservation Amendment Bill during the winter session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly added fuel to the political fire. The bill, after receiving approval from the Cabinet, has been forwarded to the Central Government for inclusion in the 9th Schedule.

Responding to Lalu’s provocative statement, BJP spokesperson Arvind Singh hit back, condemning the RJD leader for attempting to demean the country’s Prime Minister. Singh labeled Lalu as the “national president of RJD, fodder thief of Bihar, symbol of ‘Hotwar’ return, corruption, and nepotism,” urging him to be ashamed of such derogatory remarks.
