KHAGARIA – In a heartwarming celebration of love transcending borders, Rajeev Kumar Gupta of Babuaganj in Khagaria exchanged vows with Liu Dun from China at a lavish ceremony held at a hotel on the city’s main road on December 12 (Tuesday). The union, which culminated in matrimony, marked the culmination of a decade-long friendship between Rajeev and Liu.

Rajeev Kumar Gupta, the son of Ranjit Prasad Gupta and Urmila Devi, initially traveled to China for educational pursuits. He was pursuing a master’s degree in Language, Literature and Cultural Study of China. During his academic journey, he formed a deep and lasting friendship with Liu Dun of Beijing. Over the years, their camaraderie blossomed into a profound love, leading the couple to make the heartfelt decision to unite in marriage.

Despite their families’ initial hesitations, both sets of parents eventually embraced the union, granting their blessings to the couple. Due to visa complications, Liu’s family from China couldn’t attend the joyous wedding ceremony.

Reflecting on their journey, Rajeev shared that he had gone to China to pursue studies in the Chinese language. It was during this academic pursuit that he met Liu at the same university, where she was pursuing her bachelor’s degree. Liu, whose Indian name is Navya, manages a restaurant in China with an all-Indian staff. Despite the language differences, Navya engages in light conversations with the Indian staff in Hindi.

Expressing her happiness, Navya remarked, “I am very happy. I understand Hindi. I love Chhath and Diwali festivals” Liu added in English, “I am very happy. Indian people are very nice. Relatives are nice. My mother-in-law is always laughing.”
