Man Dies After Consuming Alleged Poisonous Liquor in Begusarai; Villagers Vandalize Accused’s House

Woman’s Dismembered Body Found in Patna’s Khusrupur Area; Police Investigate Brutal Murder

Begusarai: A man identified as Ramjivan Sah, 35, reportedly died after consuming poisonous liquor in Jinedpur village, Mufassil police station area of Begusarai. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon when Ramjivan, a resident of Ward No. 1 and son of Jilebi Sah, drank liquor around 1:30 p.m. and passed away shortly after, by 2 p.m. Distressed family members and villagers reacted by vandalizing the home of the alleged local liquor makers. Police have taken the body for postmortem, and an investigation is underway.

According to Ramjivan’s family, he worked for Chandan and Kundan Chaudhary, feeding their cattle and assisting with household chores. He was reportedly accustomed to drinking regularly. Villagers claim that illegal brewing of toddy and desi liquor is common in over 10 homes nearby, including that of the Chaudhary family. Following Ramjivan’s death, members of the Chaudhary family reportedly fled as villagers destroyed property at their residence.

Upon being informed, Police Station In-Charge Faizal Ahmed and his team arrived at the scene but faced hostility from the gathered crowd. Local leaders, including Sarpanch Arun Singh and Mukhiya representative Subodh Singh, intervened to calm the situation and assist in sending Ramjivan’s body for postmortem.

Sadar-One DSP Subodh Kumar later visited the site for further investigation. He stated that no definitive evidence has been found yet to confirm liquor consumption as the cause of death. The police are examining all possible factors in Ramjivan’s death and searching for more concrete leads.
