Medical Technician Lynched After Ambulance Overturns in Gaya
Gaya: A 30-year-old emergency medical technician (EMT) was beaten to death by an angry mob after an ambulance overturned in Gaya. The incident took place in Bathani, where the victim, Kundan Kumar, was allegedly attacked by the relatives of the patient and local residents.
Kumar, a resident of Ek Sari village in Nalanda district, had accompanied the ambulance to pick up a patient from Dhakni B in the Bathani police station area. After placing the patient inside, the ambulance overturned while reversing. Following the accident, Kumar immediately called for another ambulance. However, enraged by the mishap, the patient’s relatives and local villagers gathered at the scene.
Sensing the escalating tension, the ambulance driver and Kumar attempted to flee. While the driver managed to escape through a nearby field, Kumar was caught on the road by some locals, who then assaulted him.
By the time a second ambulance arrived at the scene with police personnel from the 112 emergency response team, Kumar was found lying unconscious on the road. He was rushed to a private clinic in Bihar Sharif, where doctors declared him dead. Meanwhile, the pregnant patient from the overturned ambulance was safely transported to the hospital by emergency responders.
Police have registered a case and sent Kumar’s body for post-mortem at Magadh Medical Hospital. Investigations are underway, with authorities questioning the patient’s relatives and Asha Devi, who had placed the ambulance call.
