Modi Government Approves Major Railway Projects for Bihar and Andhra Pradesh

Patna: The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved several significant railway projects, bringing major infrastructure boosts to Bihar and Andhra Pradesh. Among these, a new railway line will be laid from Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh to Sitamarhi in Bihar, and the Narkatiyaganj railway line will be doubled, improving connectivity in the region.

The project will connect key cities in North Bihar, including East Champaran, West Champaran, and Muzaffarpur, while also enhancing links to Nepal and Northeast India. The Buddha Circuit will also benefit from these developments, which include both passenger and goods train facilities. In total, the Bihar project will involve the construction of 40 bridges and span 256 km.

In addition to Bihar, Andhra Pradesh will see the laying of a 257 km long railway line as part of these newly approved projects. Both Bihar and Andhra Pradesh projects are expected to be completed within four years, ahead of the next Lok Sabha elections. The Bihar project, in particular, will cost Rs 4553 crore and is set to provide greater ease of travel for those commuting to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during major festivals like Chhath Puja.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav highlighted that the doubling of the Narkatiaganj-Raxaul-Sitamarhi-Darbhanga-Muzaffarpur railway line in Bihar will significantly improve the region’s infrastructure, ensuring faster and more efficient transportation for passengers and goods.
