Moharram Clashes in Bihar: Multiple Injuries Reported

Patna: Several districts in Bihar, including Munger, Muzaffarpur, Motihari, Patna, and Vaishali, witnessed violent clashes during the Moharram processions, leading to injuries and widespread tension in the affected areas.

Munger:
In Munger, a dispute between two groups during the Moharram procession escalated into heavy stone pelting, resulting in injuries to six individuals. The situation remains tense despite efforts by police and local authorities to restore calm.

Vaishali:
Similar clashes occurred in Vaishali, where groups participating in Tazia processions clashed violently. Bricks and stones were hurled between the two groups, leading to injuries to six people. One young man sustained serious injuries from a sword attack and was rushed to Sadar Hospital Hajipur for treatment.

Motihari:
In Motihari, controversy erupted when a participant waved the flag of Palestine during a Tazia procession. Police took the youth into custody following the circulation of a viral video showing the incident. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the motive behind this provocative act.

Patna:
Meanwhile in Patna, a person performing stunts during the Moharram procession suffered a head injury. Prompt action by healthcare workers at the scene prevented further complications.

Muzaffarpur:
In Muzaffarpur, tensions flared when police attempted to seize a DJ during the Moharram procession. An enraged mob attacked the police team, injuring more than 12 officers, including women personnel. The mob chased the police for a kilometer, pelting stones and vandalizing police vehicles in the process.

Sitamarhi:
Further unrest was reported in Sitamarhi, where clashes between Tazia processions near Mehsaul Chowk and Kiran Chowk led to heavy stone pelting. Approximately two dozen individuals sustained injuries in the violence, necessitating treatment at Sadar Hospital. Police intervention managed to pacify the situation, preventing further escalation.

Efforts to Restore Peace:
Authorities across affected districts have initiated measures to restore peace and order. SPs and SDPOs have conducted inquiries and appealed to the public for cooperation. Appropriate legal action, including the registration of FIRs, is underway.

Appeal for Harmony:
SPs have urged the community to maintain peace and refrain from spreading rumors that could exacerbate tensions. Efforts are also being made to identify those responsible for instigating violence and vandalism during the religious processions.
