Mukhyamantri Prakhand Parivahan Yojna: 2752 Beneficiaries Begin Receiving Selection Letters in First Phase
Patna: In a bid to bolster the state’s transport network, Mukhyamantri Prakhand Parivahan Yojna (MMPPY) is set to benefit 2752 beneficiaries with subsidies on bus purchases in its inaugural phase. Following the submission of 5594 applications from various districts, 2752 applications have been approved, and 2065 individuals have been selected as eligible beneficiaries. The finalized list has been publicly released, and selected applicants are now receiving official selection letters in their respective districts. The chosen applicants can now proceed to apply for the grant amount post the purchase of their buses.
Transport Secretary Sanjay Kumar Aggarwal has issued directives to all District Transport Officers (DTOs) to ensure the timely disbursement of grant amounts to the selected beneficiaries. This scheme aims to strengthen the state’s transport infrastructure, providing people in remote villages with bus transport facilities to connect them to district headquarters and other destinations.
Under the MMPPY, a phased subsidy will be granted for the purchase of a total of 3600 buses, enhancing connectivity between blocks, district headquarters, and various routes. Selected applicants will voluntarily procure buses, with each of the seven beneficiaries per block receiving a grant of Rs 5 lakh upon purchase. To claim the grant, beneficiaries must submit vehicle purchase-related documents to the District Transport Office, and the grant amount will be credited to their accounts through CFMS within seven days of the grant application.
Vehicles purchased under this scheme will receive permits from the competent authority on a priority basis. The estimated expenditure for the MMPPY is projected to be around Rs 180 crore, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving public transportation infrastructure and accessibility in Bihar.
