Nalanda University Launches ‘Sahbhagita Samvad’ to Forge Stronger Community Links

Rajgir: Nalanda University has launched an ambitious community outreach programme, “Sahbhagita Samvad,” aimed at fostering deeper connections with the local academic ecosystem in Rajgir, university officials announced.
The inaugural session of the participatory dialogue was held under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Professor Sachin Chaturvedi and brought together over 20 principals, headmasters, teachers, and faculty members from prominent government and private schools across the region. Attendees included representatives from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Saraswati Vidya Mandir, and other local institutions, alongside scholars from Nalanda University and special invitee, author and academic Prof. Venkataraman Rao.
The gathering, which began with a breakfast reception, explored a broad range of themes including student upskilling, career counselling, sustainable practices such as solar and water management systems showcased at Nalanda University, and the growing need for mentorship in schools.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Chaturvedi highlighted the initiative’s inspiration from the ancient traditions of Nalanda, which historically flourished through vibrant exchanges with neighbouring communities. “This Sahbhagita Samvad reflects the spirit of ancient Nalanda University. It’s about our commitment to community engagement and shared learning. By connecting with you all, we are trying to uphold our historical legacy and create pathways for inclusive and transformative education rooted in local Indian contexts,” he said.
He also announced plans to facilitate regular campus visits for local institutions and to introduce specialised workshops for school students in the near future.
The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony led by Prof. Chaturvedi and a vote of thanks delivered by the university registrar. The “Sahbhagita Samvad” programme is set to continue as part of Nalanda University’s broader efforts to bridge academia and community life through collaboration, dialogue and mutual support.
