
Patna: Bihar is poised to witness a significant advancement in its transportation infrastructure with the introduction of the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail service, set to connect Jaynagar and Patna via key cities including Darbhanga, Samastipur, Barauni, Mokama, and Bakhtiyarpur. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is anticipated to inaugurate this new corridor during his visit to the state on April 24.​
The Namo Bharat Rapid Rail, part of India’s Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), is designed to offer swift and efficient intercity travel. With a design speed of 180 km/h and an operational speed of up to 160 km/h, the train aims to significantly reduce travel times between major urban centers .​
Manufactured by Alstom in Gujarat, the train features an aerodynamic design for reduced drag and enhanced energy efficiency. Each 12-coach train can accommodate approximately 1,150 passengers, offering amenities such as Wi-Fi, charging points, CCTV surveillance, and Divyangjan-friendly facilities
The new service is expected to bolster regional connectivity, facilitate economic growth, and provide a comfortable travel option for commuters across Bihar.​
