NDA Hit by Defections to Jan Suraaj Ahead of Purnia Assembly Elections
Purnia: Ahead of the assembly elections in Purnia, the NDA suffered a significant setback as nine of its members, including veteran leader Rajiv Rai, left the BJP and JDU to join Jan Suraaj. The new members have been entrusted with crucial responsibilities within the party, as announced during Jan Suraaj’s executive meeting.
The executive meeting took place at Jalsa Marriage Hall in Siphai Tola, Purnia, presided over by the party’s organisation secretary, Kumar Narendra. Several key figures, including youth vice president Ajaur Rahman, executive committee president Dr. Krishna Mohan Kumar, and Amarnath Upadhyay, were in attendance. The meeting’s agenda focused on party expansion, with the newly joined members being granted roles aligned with the upcoming election campaign.
In their new positions, Rajiv Rai was appointed city president, Mahfooz Alam as secretary, Deepa Bharti as women’s president, and Sakil as campaign coordinator. Additional roles were given to Deenbandhu Jha, now vice president, and Anurag Thakur, who takes on the role of spokesperson. Members Ashish Chaudhary, Amar Sah, and Parshuram Yadav were appointed to the campaign committee.
Rajiv Rai expressed his commitment to Jan Suraaj, stating he would work to strengthen the party by engaging all social segments. He also pledged to advance the vision of Jan Suraj’s leader, Prashant Kishore. In line with this, the meeting emphasised developing grassroots support at the booth level to broaden the party’s reach.
Kumar Narendra reiterated Jan Suraaj’s goal to serve as the people’s voice, stressing that the party aims to amplify its presence and support across communities as the election approaches.
