Next Vaibhav Suryavanshi? Bihar Cricket Association Launches Rural League to Unearth Village-Level Talent

Vaibhav Suryavanshi Did Not Fail Class 10, Says School Principal – Young Cricketer Did Not Appear for Exam This Year

Patna: Inspired by the success of cricketers like Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who made Bihar proud with his performance in the IPL, the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) has launched the Bihar Rural League (BRL) 2024–25 with the ambitious aim of identifying and nurturing cricketing talent from every village of Bihar.

The registration portal for BRL opened on Monday, and the last date to register is 20 June. Young cricket enthusiasts between the ages of 13 and 23 who are permanent residents of Bihar can register through the official BCA website.

Giving Rural Talent a Platform

BCA President Rakesh Tiwari said the Bihar Rural League is dedicated to young players who have not yet had a chance to participate in mainstream cricket due to various constraints.

“Our goal is to uncover cricketing talent from the remotest corners of the state and give them a platform for growth. Through BRL, we’re not just organizing a league—we’re launching a mission to train, guide, and recognize the hidden gems of Bihar,” Tiwari said.

Multi-Level Selection Process Through Talent Hunts

The selection process will be carried out in a phased manner:

  • Talent hunts will be conducted at the panchayat, block, and district levels
  • Each of Bihar’s 38 districts will host the formation of 16 teams
  • Each district will witness 15 matches, totaling 570 matches across Bihar
  • The winning teams from each district will qualify for the Super League, forming 38 teams
  • The Super League will comprise 79 matches, bringing the total number of matches to 649

The final match will be a star-studded affair, featuring a celebrity, a national-level cricketer, and a brand ambassador to further inspire the youth.

Massive Participation Expected

BCA expects over 10,000 players to take part in this first-of-its-kind rural cricket league. Officials hope the initiative will transform Bihar into a cricketing powerhouse by empowering young players from rural areas who lack access to training infrastructure and exposure.

A Boost to Bihar’s Cricketing Ecosystem

The BRL initiative is seen as a major step in decentralizing talent scouting and ensuring that cricketing potential isn’t limited to urban centers. With structured matches, professional guidance, and wide participation, the Bihar Cricket Association aims to script a new chapter in the state’s cricketing history.

For registration and more details, players are advised to visit the official website of the Bihar Cricket Association before 20 June.
