Nitish Government Secures Victory in Bihar Assembly Floor Test Amidst Opposition Walkout

Floor test of Nitish government

Patna: In a significant victory for the Nitish government, the Bihar Assembly witnessed the successful passage of the floor test on Monday, with the opposition staging a walkout prior to the voting process. The ruling party’s demand for voting was met with overwhelming support, as 129 votes were cast in favor, while not a single vote was cast in opposition.

Tensions ran high during the deliberations, with chaos erupting as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar attempted to address the House amidst disruptions from RJD MLAs. Expressing his frustration, Nitish Kumar vehemently called for voting, highlighting the tumultuous governance under the leadership of Tejashwi Yadav’s parents.

In a charged atmosphere, former Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav seized the opportunity to question the stability of Nitish Kumar’s government, invoking the specter of shifting alliances. Tejashwi’s impassioned speech underscored his skepticism towards the current administration, suggesting a lack of trust in its longevity.

Amidst chants of “Tejashwi Zindabad,” the Assembly witnessed heightened tensions, with reports of lathi charges on RJD workers outside the premises, further exacerbating the political turmoil.

Prior to the floor test, Speaker Awadh Bihari Chaudhary faced removal through a no-confidence motion, with 125 votes in favor of his ouster and 112 against, marking a significant development in the political landscape of Bihar.

As the dust settles on the tumultuous proceedings, the Nitish government emerges victorious, solidifying its position in the state Assembly. However, the lingering echoes of dissent and the specter of political maneuvering continue to cast a shadow over Bihar’s governance, underscoring the volatility of its political landscape.
