Nitish Kumar Inaugurates Ancient Maa Vishhara Bhagwati Temple in Saharsa, Announces Annual Festival

Saharsa: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the ancient Maa Vishhara Bhagwati temple in Diwari village, Kahra block, Saharsa district, on Friday. Following the inauguration, Nitish offered prayers for the peace and prosperity of the state. He announced that the Tourism Department would host an annual Vishhara Bhagwati Temple Festival to boost the temple’s significance and attract more visitors.

The Chief Minister inspected the temple premises, reviewing recent development efforts, and highlighted the improved beautification work aimed at enhancing the experience for devotees. To further the temple’s environmental efforts, Nitish planted saplings and released fish seeds into the pond within the temple grounds.

Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several development projects in Amarpur, Kahra block. Among the key projects, Nitish unveiled the stone plaque for a high-level RCC bridge over the Kosi River, to be built between Khajur Deva Chowk and Deng Rahi Ghat at an estimated cost of Rs. 414.74 crore. He also laid the foundation for a model police station in Saharsa, with a budget of Rs. 5.67 crore.

CM Nitish inaugurated the dredging of a government pond near the Panchayat Government Building in Amarpur under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan, and again released fish seeds into the water. He directed officials to construct a stepped ghat and plant dense trees around the pond to enhance the area’s ecological balance.

The Chief Minister also attended an exhibition organized by various government departments and distributed symbolic cheques to beneficiaries of multiple schemes. He handed over Rs. 62.43 crore to 1,738 self-help groups supported by Jeevika and Rs. 4.12 crore to 306 targeted families under the Sustainable Livelihood Scheme.
