Patna: With assembly elections looming, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday convened a high-level meeting with BJP ministers at his official residence in Patna, where the focus was squarely on accelerating development initiatives and projecting Centre-state synergy in delivering welfare.
The hour-long meeting, described by insiders as “strategically significant”, saw discussions on expediting ongoing projects, particularly those initiated during Nitish’s Pragati Yatra. Special attention was paid to the implementation of centrally-supported schemes, a sign that the JD(U)-BJP alliance is keen to present a united development front before voters.
According to sources, ministers deliberated on ways to improve last-mile delivery of state schemes and ensure visibility of infrastructure and welfare initiatives in the run-up to the elections. “The aim is to take the message of development to every corner of Bihar,” a senior BJP leader said.
The meeting followed another key huddle on Monday, where Nitish met with top JD(U) brass to discuss poll strategy. The chief minister reportedly asked party leaders and workers to fan out across all 243 constituencies and communicate the transformation achieved during his 20-year tenure. “People must know how Bihar changed under Nitish ji — from roads to electricity, from law and order to social welfare,” said a party official present in the meeting.
Sources said Union Minister and JD(U) leader Rajiv Ranjan alias Lalan Singh, party working president Sanjay Jha, and other senior figures were given specific organisational responsibilities. The strategy includes not just showcasing governance, but also preparing a robust counter-narrative to any attack from opposition parties.
