Muzaffarpur: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, launched a scathing attack on Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Sunday, accusing him of insulting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and, by extension, the country’s poor.

Speaking to reporters in Muzaffarpur, Nityanand alleged that Tejashwi had used “derogatory language” against the Prime Minister, who he described as “the messiah of the poor.” He claimed Tejashwi’s remarks not only disrespected the Prime Minister but also hurt the sentiments of millions who look up to Modi as a symbol of empowerment and justice.

“Tejashwi is completely devoid of values now. His comments have insulted those who dreamt of dignity, housing, and justice,” Rai said. “Lalu Prasad and his family have always looted the rights of the poor. Tejashwi is simply following the same path.”

Nityanand  took aim at Tejashwi’s privileged upbringing, suggesting that the RJD leader’s lack of personal experience with poverty was the reason for his alleged disregard for the struggles of the underprivileged. “Your father may have come from poverty, but you were born into wealth. That’s why you make fun of the poor. You have never lived their life,” he said.

In a personal appeal to RJD chief Lalu Prasad, Nityanand said, “Lalu ji, please teach your son some values. If not, then send him to a Gurukul.”

The Union Minister, who represents Ujiarpur in the Lok Sabha, claimed that the political future of the RJD scion is dimming. “Tejashwi’s politics is on the verge of extinction. His remarks against a leader who brought more than 25 crore people out of poverty are not forgivable. This is an affront to the hopes of the poor, and their sighs never go in vain,” Nityanand said.
