No Arrests Yet in Patna Firing Case; 10 Policemen Suspended

Patna: No arrests have been made yet in the sensational case of indiscriminate firing on Patna’s Boring Canal Road, even as police have identified all the suspects involved. According to the investigation, the accused had taken shelter in a hotel in the Kadamkuan area after the shooting incident, but managed to flee before police could apprehend them.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening (May 24) near Rosie Sweets when a group of criminal elements opened fire following a minor dispute. Eyewitnesses said the attackers appeared to target residents of the locality and fled in a black Scorpio SUV without a number plate.
Senior police officials confirmed that Additional Director General (ADG) of Law and Order, Pankaj Darad, happened to be passing by when the incident took place. He personally gave chase to the accused from the firing spot to GPO Golambar—roughly a kilometre away—but the suspects managed to escape.
Hotel Connection and Ongoing Probe
The attackers reportedly spent over two hours in a hotel located in the Kadamkuan area after the shooting. By the time police arrived at the hotel based on a tip-off, the suspects had already left. CCTV footage obtained by investigators shows several youths believed to be involved in the incident sitting inside the unregistered Scorpio.
In a significant development, police have questioned the son of an inspector in connection with the case. Authorities are probing his possible role or association with the accused.
Disciplinary Action Against Police
As the case triggered outrage over law enforcement lapses, Patna Police has suspended 10 personnel for dereliction of duty. Central SP Sweety Sehrawat has been appointed to lead the inquiry into the incident. Officials say more action could follow once her report is submitted.
