Now MBBS Will Be Taught in Hindi at Bhagalpur’s JLNMC, Making Bihar the Second State to Achieve This
Bhagalpur: Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JLNMC) will now offer an MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) course in Hindi as well. This decision was made during a meeting in Patna two days ago, attended by the Health Minister and senior officials. With this, Bihar will become the second state after Madhya Pradesh to offer MBBS courses in Hindi.
The superintendent of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital, Prof (Dr) Rakesh Kumar, said that a team was formed to initiate the arrangements for teaching in Hindi. The team members were sent to Madhya Pradesh for this purpose.
The team spent seven days talking to the principal, professors, and students of the medical college there. Their findings were presented to senior officials in a meeting. After understanding everything, the decision was made to start teaching in Hindi at JLNMC. In the meeting, team members presented samples of MBBS textbooks in Hindi. They asked if there would be any difficulty in understanding the technical medical terms. After reviewing the books, all the principals and superintendents found that the content was written in accurate and simple language, and there would be no difficulty in understanding it.
The team members considered this a revolutionary decision. The students and professors of the medical college said that studying MBBS in Hindi will help students understand better and express themselves more effectively. The implementation of the new system will resolve the concerns of students studying in Hindi medium. In medical education, the use of English terms can be very challenging, making it difficult for Hindi medium students to understand.
Now, classes will also be conducted in Hindi. While critical medical terms will remain in English, students will now be able to take exams in Hindi. However, students who prefer to take exams in English will also have the freedom to do so.
