NTPC Barauni Plant Celebrates Republic Day, Sets 130 GW Capacity Goal for 2032
Begusarai: The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) marked India’s Republic Day with celebrations at its Barauni plant, where project head Joydeep Ghosh hoisted the national flag and led a tribute to the nation’s constitutional architects. The event featured a ceremonial salute by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), followed by the singing of the national anthem.
Addressing employees and guests, Ghosh paid tribute to the country’s founding figures and highlighted NTPC’s progress since its establishment by the Indian government in 1975. He noted that the company has grown from modest beginnings to an installed capacity of 76,733 megawatts, spanning coal, gas, hydro, wind, and solar energy sources.
Looking ahead, NTPC has set an ambitious target of reaching 130 gigawatts (GW) of installed capacity by 2032, with renewable energy expected to contribute 60 GW of this total through sources such as solar, wind, and hydro power. Ghosh underscored the importance of meeting this goal to support India’s energy needs and transition to cleaner power.
The event also featured a cultural performance by children from Bal Bhavan, who entertained attendees with music and dance. Ghosh encouraged staff to continue their contributions to the plant’s success while maintaining the highest safety standards.
The celebrations concluded with the presentation of HOP Meritorious Awards to employees for outstanding performance, followed by the release of balloons to mark the occasion. The event ended with patriotic slogans resonating through the venue.
