Oil Exploration Begins in Bihar’s Buxar District After Traces Found in Water Samples

Buxar: The search for crude oil reserves in Bihar has officially begun, with Oil India Limited (OIL) conducting surveys in Buxar district. The company’s team, currently working in Chaugai village, has collected water and soil samples, some of which have shown traces of crude oil. This discovery has sparked hope among locals that significant oil reserves may exist underground.
40 locations identified for drilling and survey
According to OIL sources, around 30 to 40 locations in Buxar have been identified for exploration. The survey team is using advanced technologies, including GPS satellite systems and seismic blasting, to assess subsurface oil deposits. Satellite-based seismic wave recordings will help determine the presence of oil beneath the ground.
Land to be leased if oil reserves are confirmed
The collected samples will be sent to a laboratory for testing, and the results are expected within a year. If commercially viable oil reserves are confirmed, the company will lease the land for extraction. Additionally, one member from each affected family will be offered employment opportunities as part of the compensation package.
Excitement grows among locals
The possibility of an oil reserve in the region has sparked enthusiasm among residents of Chaugai village. Many believe that a successful oil discovery could lead to economic transformation, bringing employment opportunities and infrastructure development to the area.
