Patna: The Transport Department has launched an online payment service for e-challans issued automatically at toll plazas through e-detection. Vehicle owners can now easily deposit the fine amount from home by visiting the official website of the Transport Department at parivahan.gov.in or echallan.gov.in. A new head has been created specifically for the deposit of fines related to these e-challans.

This initiative addresses previous technical issues that prevented the online payment of challans. With the new system in place, over 17,000 automatic e-challans have been issued between August 7 and 22 for vehicles failing fitness, insurance, and pollution requirements. Vehicle owners will receive a notification on their mobile phones once a challan has been issued against their vehicle.

The Transport Secretary Sanjay Kumar Kumar Agarwal emphasized that the primary goal of this system is to make services more convenient and transparent for the public. By enabling online payments, vehicle owners can settle their fines without the hassle of visiting any office, ensuring a smoother experience.

Vehicle owners can pay their fines online using their challan number, vehicle number, or driver’s license number. This service aims to enhance road safety, ensure vehicles are insured, control pollution, and promote the fitness of vehicles on the road.
