Patna: With just 20 days remaining to avail the 5% rebate on property tax, Patna residents are turning out in large numbers at tax counters operated by the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC). The discount is available only for payments made between April and June, and will end on June 30.
In anticipation of the rush, PMC has decided to keep all tax counters open even on Sundays and public holidays, including June 11, Kabir Jayanti. On regular working days, counters will operate from 9 am to 9 pm in two shifts.
The discount is part of the civic body’s initiative to encourage timely tax compliance. As per PMC’s schedule:
• From April to June: 5% rebate on property tax
• From July to September: no rebate, no penalty
• From October to March: 1.5% penalty on due amount
To make the process more convenient, online payment options are also available. Residents can pay their taxes through the official websites https://www.pmc.bihar.gov.in/Home.aspx and https://pmcptax.bihar.gov.in/pmc/public, or use the WhatsApp chatbot on 9244474449.
In addition, demand letters are being delivered at residents’ homes by municipal staff to assist in timely payments.
