Over 68,000 Teachers Face Scrutiny for Alleged Fraudulent Appointments in Bihar
Patna: The Bihar Education Department has launched an investigation into over 68,000 teachers suspected of securing their positions through fraudulent means. These teachers, primarily from outside the state, allegedly used fake certificates and availed of state quotas to obtain employment.
The investigation will scrutinize the teachers’ credentials, including their CTET scores, certificates, and competency test results.
Those found with discrepancies or fraudulent documents will face suspension, pending a thorough investigation. While suspended, these teachers will continue to receive their salaries. However, strict action, including salary recovery, will be taken against those found guilty.
The scope of the investigation has been expanded to include over 80,000 teachers in total.
Pankaj Kumar, the Director of Primary Education in Bihar, stated that suspended teachers will have to wait for reinstatement as state employees. Furthermore, teachers appointed for subjects outside their area of qualification will also face suspension.
The Vigilance Department is conducting a parallel investigation to identify and address instances of fraudulent teacher appointments.
This move by the Bihar government aims to ensure the integrity of the state’s education system by weeding out individuals who have obtained their positions through deceitful means.
