Patna: A woman travelling from Saharsa to New Delhi on the Vaishali Express was allegedly drugged and robbed of valuables worth over Rs 2 lakh, in the latest in a string of thefts on Indian Railways.

Baby Kumari, a resident of Simri Bakhtiyarpur in Bihar, boarded AC coach M1 of the Vaishali Express on her way to Delhi for personal work. According to her complaint, a group of more than six unidentified individuals boarded the train near Kanpur station and sprayed an intoxicating substance inside the coach, causing her and several other passengers to lose consciousness.

Upon regaining awareness, Kumari discovered that her purse, containing gold jewellery, around Rs 10,000 in cash, an ATM card, and several important documents, had been stolen. She reported that others in the coach were also targeted by the thieves.

The incident follows a similar robbery on the Capital Express earlier this week, raising serious questions about passenger safety on long-distance trains. She has lodged a formal complaint at the Railway Police Station in Delhi.
