Patna-Bihta Commute to Be Slashed to 14 Minutes with New Elevated Corridor

Divisional Commissioner Reviews Traffic Plans for Danapur-Bihta Elevated Road

Patna: In a major boost to regional connectivity, Patna will now be just 14 minutes away from Bihta Airport thanks to a new elevated expressway. The 14 km non-stop corridor will feature speeds up to 80 km/h, dramatically reducing travel time.

The elevated road, set to be a part of National Highway 922 (formerly NH-30), will seamlessly connect Bihta Airport with Danapur Station and extend to the Danapur-Khagaul Road. Vehicles travelling at 60 km/h will complete the journey in 14 minutes, with faster speeds reducing this even further.

A dedicated underpass is also being constructed to facilitate uninterrupted traffic flow between Danapur and the Bihta-Koilwar corridor. The development includes the ongoing expansion of the Buxar-Patna route, scheduled for completion by September 2026, which will further ease congestion.

The new bypass will elevate major routes through Neuraganj, Akhtiyarpur, and Kanhauli, connecting to a 12-lane toll plaza. A special underpass will ensure that traffic from the toll plaza to Bihta Airport remains smooth and continuous.

The elevated expressway will end near the Bihta ESIC hospital and integrate with the Buxar-Patna Expressway. With 14.4 km of the 25.07 km route elevated, the infrastructure will also feature multiple ramps, bus shelters, and truck parking areas, enhancing the overall efficiency and comfort of the commute.
