Patna College Marks 163rd Foundation Day with Ceremony to Honour Top Students

Patna: Patna College, one of Bihar’s oldest and most prestigious educational institutions, is celebrating its 163rd Foundation Day on Thursday with a special event at the Dr. Sachchidanand Sinha Seminar Hall. The ceremony will be attended by a range of distinguished guests, including Dr. L.N. Ram, former Vice-Chancellor of Patna University and an alumnus of the college, who will address the students. The event will be presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ajay Kumar Singh, with the principal offering a warm welcome to attendees.
A key feature of the day’s programme will be the recognition of top-performing students from Patna University, alongside the honouring of retired staff members from the past year. The college is renowned for its rich legacy and continues to be a beacon of higher education in Bihar. Often referred to as the ‘Oxford of the East’, Patna College is older than Patna University itself and boasts a distinctive Dutch architectural style in its campus buildings.
Despite facing numerous challenges over the years, the institution has maintained its identity and set numerous standards in the education sector. Its beautiful campus, complete with a playground, stands as a testament to the college’s longstanding contribution to the academic and cultural fabric of the region.
Patna College has been the alma mater of many prominent figures, including Bihar’s first Chief Minister Shrikrishna Singh, national poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, and a host of esteemed academics and politicians such as Dr. Anugrah Narayan Singh, Professors Ramsharan Sharma and D.N. Jha, as well as public figures like Kishore Kunal, Jagat Prakash Nadda, and Ravi Shankar Prasad.
