21 Teams to Assess 108 Chhath Ghats in Patna
Patna: District Magistrate (DM), Chandrashekhar Singh, has emphasized rigorous preparations for the upcoming Chhath festival, slated for November 17- 20. The district magistrate has underscored the significance of meticulous crowd management, stringent security protocols, and seamless traffic control during the festivities.
Acknowledging the pivotal role of the festival in the cultural ethos of Bihar, DM Singh urged officials to prioritize the convenience of the devotees and Chhath Vratis (devotees), particularly those returning home from outside the state. Highlighting the successful execution of Durga Puja, Dussehra, and Ravana slaughter programs, the DM applauded the officials for their commendable efforts and urged collective teamwork for the seamless organization of the forthcoming Chhath festival.
Chhath Festival Cell
A Chhath festival cell, under the leadership of the district magistrate, has been constituted to oversee the preparations. The Deputy Development Commissioner has been appointed as the senior nodal officer, along with designated nodal officers from various departments. This cell will ensure coordinated efforts among different authorities, focusing on the preparation of ghats and access roads, essential amenities for devotees, and timely execution of all arrangements.
Prioritizing Law and Order
DM Singh emphasized the paramountcy of maintaining law and order during the festival, assigning 21 inspection teams to assess the conditions of approximately 108 ghats within the district. Stressing the need for adequate facilities, he outlined plans for separate toilets, clean drinking water, changing rooms, and shelter for Chhath Vratis, in addition to strengthened security measures such as CCTV surveillance and control rooms.
Focus on Amenities and Infrastructure
Furthermore, DM Singh instructed concerned authorities to prioritize comprehensive cleaning, robust lighting, and well-organized parking facilities. Additionally, specific directives were issued to ensure the smooth functioning of electrical infrastructure and the presence of medical teams, security forces, and communication facilities for the devotees’ convenience.
Inter- agencies coordination for timely preparation
With an overarching focus on ensuring a hassle-free experience for the participants, DM Singh emphasized the critical role of various agencies, including the police, civil defense personnel, and construction authorities, in ensuring the timely completion of all necessary arrangements. Stressing the significance of excellent communication strategies, the DM reiterated the collective responsibility of the district administration in facilitating a smooth and successful Chhath festival.
