Bihar Government Unveils 'Mission Daksh' to Tackle Academic Lag Among 25 Lakh Students

PATNA – Responding to the prevailing cold weather conditions and the associated risks to the health and lives of children, Dr. Chandra Shekhar Singh, District Magistrate of Patna, Bihar, issued a crucial order under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973.

In continuation of the order communicated through memo no. 297 dated 08.01.2024, Dr. Singh emphasized the need for immediate action to safeguard the well-being of the younger population in the district. The directive imposes a temporary ban on academic activities in all private and government schools, including pre-schools and Anganwari Centres, up to Class-VIII.

The restriction is set to be in effect from 13th January 2024 and will remain enforceable until 16th January 2024. Dr. Singh, in his order, highlighted the heightened risk during the cold mornings, prompting the need for preventive measures to mitigate potential health hazards.

Under the directive, classes from Class-IX onwards will continue with proper precautions, adhering to the previous guidelines between 09.00 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. Academic activities related to Mission Daksha and Board Examinations have been deemed exempt from the temporary suspension.

The order signifies a proactive step to prioritize the safety and well-being of the younger demographic during the harsh winter conditions. Dr. Singh, with the authority vested in him as the District Magistrate, affirmed the urgency of the situation, necessitating a swift response to protect the health and lives of the children in the district.
