Patna Gears Up for Dussehra Celebrations: Police and Administration Tighten Security

Patna DM inspects Gaindhai Maidan ahead of Dussehra

Patna: As the festive season of Dussehra approaches, starting from October 3, the Patna district administration and police have ramped up preparations to ensure a smooth and safe celebration.

Top officials, including the District Magistrate (DM) Dr. Chandrashekhar and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajiv Mishra, are overseeing arrangements, focusing on maintaining order and crowd control. Police officers will be deployed alongside magistrates at various locations across the city to prevent any disturbances during the festivities.

In preparation for the Ravana Dahan event at Gandhi Maidan, Patna DM Dr. Chandrashekhar and SSP Rajiv Mishra, along with other administrative officials, inspected the venue to assess the arrangements. The DM announced that the Ravana Dahan will take place on October 12, an event that draws large crowds annually.

Given the significant number of attendees, including many from rural areas, the administration is taking steps to ensure a smooth exit after the event, which often leads to congestion. The DM assured that all gates of Gandhi Maidan will be opened post-event to avoid crowd pressure at any single exit point, allowing people to leave safely and without difficulty. Magistrates will be stationed around the venue, and CCTV cameras will monitor all gates. A dedicated control room will also be set up to oversee the entire event.

SSP Rajiv Mishra emphasized the participation of women and children from both urban and rural areas in the Ravana Dahan program, highlighting the need for effective crowd management. Police officers and magistrates will be assigned to four sectors to ensure proper lighting, traffic management, drinking water availability, medical aid, cleanliness, and fire safety, in addition to maintaining law and order.

To ensure safety throughout the event, police officers will use public announcement systems to control the crowd. Firefighters, medical teams, and the electricity department will be on standby at Gandhi Maidan. The security measures will remain in effect until the entire venue is cleared.
