Patna High Court Announces Summer Vacation Bench, To Hear Urgent Matters From May 19

Patna High Court will commence its summer break from May 19, with a vacation bench set to hear urgent civil, criminal, and bail matters until June 12.

Patna: The Patna High Court will observe its summer vacation from May 19 to June 15, with a vacation bench constituted to hear urgent cases during this period, the court administration announced on Thursday. The vacation bench will function from May 19 to June 12, ensuring that essential judicial work continues uninterrupted.

According to the official notification, the court will operate in two shifts during the vacation — from 8:30am to 10:30am and from 11:00am to 1:00pm. The vacation bench will primarily handle matters related to bail, cases under the Juvenile Justice Act, and other urgent civil and criminal matters.

Different combinations of judges will preside over the vacation bench each week:

  • May 19 to May 22: Justice Rajesh Kumar Verma will head the main bench, alongside nine other judges tasked with hearing criminal appeals and bailable matters.
  • May 26 to May 29: Justice Jitendra Kumar will lead the bench, with Justices Alok Kumar Pandey, S.B.P. Singh, Saurendra Pandey, and Soni Srivastava also serving.
  • June 2 to June 5: Justice Parth Sarathi will preside over the main bench, supported by Justice Dr Anshuman.
  • June 9 to June 12: Justice Anil Kumar Sinha will lead, with Justices Prabhat Kumar Singh and Parth Sarathi also on the bench.

All urgent writ petitions will be listed before the senior-most presiding judge during the vacation period.

With Saturdays and Sundays being non-working days, May 16 will mark the final working day of the court before the summer recess.
