Patna: The mortal remains of Manish Kumar, a brave son of Nawada, who was serving in Leh, Jammu and Kashmir, arrived at Patna airport on Friday evening. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Union Ministers Nityanand Rai and Giriraj Singh, and Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal were present at the airport to pay their respects to the fallen soldier. Manish’s body was received with full state honors, as numerous ministers from the Bihar government and Union ministers joined in paying tribute to his martyrdom.
Manish Kumar, a resident of Pandey Gangout village in the Kauakol block of Nawada district, was martyred in Kargil, Ladakh, where he was stationed on the India-Pakistan border. The news of his sacrifice reached his native village on Wednesday, triggering widespread grief and mourning among his family and the entire community. According to reports, his final rites will be performed in his ancestral village on Saturday.
Manish was the third son of Ashok Ram and had rejoined the Army in 2018. His father recounted that Manish had recently married on March 6, 2025, and returned to duty to serve the nation just a few days after his wedding. Villagers remembered Manish as a warm, friendly, and sociable young man who always made it a point to connect with everyone during his leaves, inquiring about their well-being and sharing his own. His martyrdom has plunged the entire village into deep sorrow.
Upon receiving news of the tragic incident, Sadar SDO Akhilesh Kumar, Pakribarawan DSP Mahesh Chaudhary, SHO Deepak Kumar, and Pandey Gangout Panchayat Mukhiya Deepak Kumar visited the martyr’s home to offer condolences to his parents and wife. They assured the bereaved family that Manish’s sacrifice would never be forgotten and that the entire nation and the government stood in solidarity with them during this difficult time.
