Patna in Shock as 17-Year-Old Boy Gunned Down in Broad Daylight

A 17-year-old boy was shot dead in broad daylight in Patna, intensifying public outrage over the city’s rising tide of violent crime.

Patna: A 17-year-old boy was shot dead in broad daylight in Patna’s Danapur locality on Thursday, in a brazen act of violence that has sent shockwaves through the community and raised fresh concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in the city.

The victim, identified as Shravan Kumar, was allegedly lured out of his home in Sultanpur Trimurti Nagar by acquaintances, before being gunned down near DAV Public School. Eyewitnesses say an argument broke out between Shravan and one of the youths, who then pulled out a firearm and shot him near the temple and neck. The assailants fled the scene on foot, leaving Shravan critically injured and lying in a pool of blood.

Friends rushed him to a local hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Despite this, the family, clinging to hope, transferred him to a private hospital in Raja Bazar, but there too, he was pronounced dead.

The incident has sparked outrage among locals and deepened fears over rising violent crime in the Bihar capital. “We are not safe even during the day,” said one resident. “These criminals are roaming free without fear.”

Shravan’s grieving family has appealed to the police for swift justice. “He was just a child,” his father, Santosh Kumar, said tearfully. “We want the killers behind bars.”

Police have launched an investigation and recovered multiple shell casings from the crime scene. Authorities say they are pursuing leads and are committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice.

This killing is the latest in a string of violent crimes that have rattled Patna in recent weeks, fuelling public anger and calls for greater accountability from law enforcement.
