Patna ISKCON to Host Grand Rath Yatra on June 27 with 40-Foot Chariot and International Devotees

The Rath Yatra will begin from ISKCON Patna on June 27, featuring a 40-foot chariot adorned with flowers from Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Thailand, while prasad and Bhandara will be offered along the procession route.

Patna: Patna is set to witness a grand spiritual celebration as ISKCON gears up to host the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra on June 27. Elaborate preparations are underway for the event, including the construction of a 40-foot-high chariot, which will carry the deities through the city.

Skilled artisans from various states are involved in designing and painting the chariot, which will feature intricate motifs of the Shankh (conch), Gada (mace), and other traditional symbols. The front of the chariot will bear inscriptions such as “Hare Krishna” and chants praising the deities. The wheels and sides will be artistically decorated to reflect the grandeur of the festival.

Fresh flowers for the chariot’s decoration are being sourced from Bengaluru, Kolkata, and even Thailand, including roses, marigolds, orchids, and chrysanthemums. A floral shower is planned during the procession to enhance the devotional atmosphere.

Kirtan teams from abroad are expected to join, contributing to the global spirit of the festival. Devotees walking along the route will be offered prasad in the form of peanuts, sugar candy, and fennel. A large-scale Bhandara will be held at the conclusion of the yatra, serving traditional dishes like puri, dal, rice, vegetables, kheer, and sweets.

A meeting with local authorities will soon finalise the Rath Yatra route, ensuring smooth conduct of the event. Organisers expect a large turnout as preparations reach their final stage.
