Patna Junction Tightens Crowd Control Measures After New Delhi Stampede

Patna: Following the recent stampede at New Delhi Railway Station, authorities at Patna Junction have reinforced crowd management measures to prevent any similar incidents. According to the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Danapur Division, Patna has a well-established crowd control system for handling large gatherings, which is now being fully implemented.
A series of measures have been put in place to ensure passenger safety and streamline movement. Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and commercial staff have been stationed at key locations across the station to enhance security. A dedicated guidance team, with staff members wearing distinctive jackets, will assist passengers with directions and information. Special holding zones are being set up to manage large crowds efficiently, while three to four additional trains are being operated for passengers traveling to Maha Kumbh. Additionally, the announcement system has been strengthened to provide real-time information to passengers.
The DRM noted that Patna Junction routinely manages high passenger traffic, particularly during Chhath Puja, and similar strategies are being applied to manage the current rush. The railway administration has assured that all necessary precautions are in place to avoid a repeat of the New Delhi incident, prioritizing both convenience and safety for travellers.
