Patna: Land Dealer Arun Kumar Shot Dead in Alamganj
Patna: On Sunday morning at 5:11 AM, land dealer Arun Kumar was shot dead on Jalla Road in the Alamganj police station area. Arun was hit by half a dozen bullets in the chest, upper neck, and back.
An FIR was lodged late at night by Arun’s wife, Asha Kumari, who accused nine people, including Mayor Sita Sahu’s son, Shishir Kumar. Upon receiving the information, ASP Sarath RS and Alamganj police station in-charge Rajiv Kumar reached the spot.
Incident Details
Asha told the police that on Sunday morning, her husband was watering the flowers outside their house. Two youths parked their bike in the street, approached the house, and started firing at her husband. The assailants fled through the streets. Neighbors, alerted by the sound of gunfire, rushed to the scene. Arun, soaked in blood, was taken to NMCH, where doctors declared him dead.
Possible Motives: Land Dispute or Election Rivalry
1. Land Dispute: Police suspect the murder could be related to a land dispute or personal rivalry. The deceased’s father, Madan Mohan Prasad, mentioned a conflict with Mantosh Mahato, the owner of a disputed land.
2. Election Rivalry: A year and a half ago, Arun had a confrontation with the mayor’s son over campaign activities for the mayor’s election.
Murder Executed Like a Contract Killing
The manner in which the killers carried out the shooting suggests a professional hit. The firing was done with a pistol typically used by sharp shooters. However, the police have stated that it is too early to make definitive conclusions.
