Patna: A senior officer of the Patna Municipal Corporation and a female anchor have filed written complaints against Shishir Kumar, son of Patna Mayor Sita Sahu and a member of the BJP state working committee, accusing him of verbal abuse and misconduct during a government event attended by top state officials.

The incident took place on April 3 during a foundation stone laying ceremony for the new office building of the Patna Municipal Corporation, an event organised by the Urban Development and Housing Department. Present at the programme were Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav, Urban Development Minister Jibesh Kumar, and Road Construction Minister Nitin Nabin, alongside several MLAs.

According to the written complaint submitted to both the Patna Municipal Commissioner and the Kotwali police station, Ramashish Sharan Tiwari, Deputy Municipal Commissioner and a Bihar Administrative Service officer, alleged that Shishir Kumar used abusive language against him and his deceased mother. “My mother passed away from cancer 22 years ago, but now I’m being forced to hear abuses directed at her,” Tiwari wrote in his statement. He said the abuse occurred after Shishir Kumar confronted him for allegedly not preparing a speech for the mayor.

Tiwari further claimed he remained silent during the incident due to the presence of senior dignitaries, but reported the matter to higher authorities and the police afterwards.

The female anchor, who was conducting the event and also works as a Public Relations Officer with the municipal corporation, has also submitted a complaint. She alleged that Shishir called her off stage and misbehaved with her, leading her to tears in front of attendees. Eyewitnesses present at the event corroborated her distress, she claimed.

In response to the allegations, Shishir Kumar denied any wrongdoing. “I did not abuse the officer or misbehave with the anchor. There were many people present, and they would know. These allegations are baseless,” he said, adding that he believes he is being targeted as part of a political conspiracy to damage his reputation.

The matter has now reached both the police and senior officials within the municipal administration. Further investigation is underway.
