Samastipur: Bihar Minister Jivesh Mishra has announced that metro rail services in Patna are expected to commence from 15 August. Speaking at a public event in Samastipur, the minister said construction is progressing at a rapid pace and the state government is committed to transforming Patna into a metropolitan city.
“The construction of the Patna Metro is being carried out on a war footing. The first metro train is scheduled to run on 15 August. I am personally overseeing the progress of the work,” the minister stated.
In reference to the upcoming state assembly elections, Jivesh Mishra reiterated that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will contest under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Expressing strong confidence in the ruling coalition’s electoral prospects, he said, “We will win 225 seats and return to power in Bihar. The people are with the NDA.”
Jivesh Mishra also directed criticism at the Leader of Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, referring to internal disagreements within the Yadav family. “Tejashwi Yadav should first address the unrest in his own family. Along with Lalu Prasad Yadav, he has sidelined his brother Tej Pratap Yadav. Now, Tej Pratap will have to make his voice heard,” the minister said.
Commenting on the recent lathi charge on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Darbhanga, the minister stated that an inquiry has been initiated. “Instructions have been given to the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police to review CCTV footage. Appropriate action will be taken against any officers found responsible,” he added.
The Patna Metro project, aimed at easing urban congestion and improving public transport infrastructure, is one of the state’s key development initiatives. If completed as scheduled, the launch will mark a significant milestone in Bihar’s urban transit development.
