Patna: Patna Municipal Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar, along with senior officials, inspected the Ramchak Bairiya dumping yard of the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) and expressed satisfaction with its condition. During the visit, he issued several directives aimed at improving the site’s infrastructure, waste processing efficiency, and overall aesthetics.
As part of the beautification efforts, the commissioner instructed the implementation of the Miyawaki technique for tree plantation to enhance greenery. Additionally, two German hangars will be installed—one at the composting site and another at the weighbridge. To promote waste management, all manure pits will be emptied, and PMC will distribute 500g packets of manure to households on 31 March as a token of appreciation. OWC (Organic Waste Converter) machines from all PMC zones will be deployed to the dumping yard after maintenance, while each zone will assign a driver and a helper to transport wet waste from market areas to Ramchak Bairiya. The HMS team will conduct training sessions for personnel involved in composting, and wall paintings featuring sanitation workers will be created as part of the beautification drive.
The Engineering Department will operationalize the leachate collection system, and two air-conditioned rooms have been completed for employees stationed at the site, with arrangements for beds and drinking water. To establish a revenue generation model, compost manure produced at the site will be sold. High mast lights will be installed to ensure adequate illumination, and gates will be placed at designated spots on the boundary wall for security. Additionally, temporary German hangars will be set up immediately for workers involved in waste segregation, with seating arrangements and drinking water provisions.
The Municipal Commissioner emphasized the need for continuous waste processing as per regulations and directed officials to ensure swift implementation of the measures.
Accompanying him on the inspection were Additional Municipal Commissioner Rajan Sinha, the executive engineer, city manager, and other PMC officials.
