Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has inaugurated its first dedicated petrol pump to enhance operational efficiency and transparency in its vehicle fleet, particularly those deployed for citywide fogging drives.

Located in the Pataliputra zone along the service lane of Atal Path—stretching from Pani Tanki towards the Rajiv Nagar Flyover—the new facility became functional on Friday. It will initially serve municipal vehicles from the Pataliputra and Nutan Rajdhani zones.

Municipal officials said the petrol pump will not only provide fuel for civic vehicles but will also serve as the central point for mixing fogging chemicals under official supervision. “This facility ensures daily monitoring of fogging vehicles and eliminates concerns around fuel misuse or chemical mismanagement,” a PMC spokesperson said.

The petrol pump has been equipped with CCTV cameras directly connected to the municipal headquarters’ control room at Mauryalok Complex. This enables real-time tracking of fuel distribution and chemical mixing by personnel stationed at the command centre.

Officials believe the facility will help address longstanding complaints of oil theft and poor record-keeping by allowing accurate documentation and oversight. “With this system in place, both operational efficiency and accountability will see marked improvement,” the spokesperson added.
