Patna: The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Patna Municipal Corporation has resigned from her post, alleging mental harassment and misbehaviour by Shishir Kumar, son of Patna Mayor Sita Sahu. A formal complaint has been lodged at the women’s police station, intensifying tensions within the civic body.
In a resignation letter addressed to the Municipal Commissioner, the officer, who had been serving as PRO since 2021, said she could no longer continue in the role due to the “persistent harassment” by Shishir Kumar.
“At times in the Mayor’s chamber, and at times over the phone, I was subjected to mental harassment and indecent behaviour,” she wrote. “He threatened me with dismissal and made inappropriate remarks about my personal life. I am deeply hurt—this is a matter of a woman’s dignity. The environment has become unbearable.”
In a written complaint submitted to the women’s police station, the officer claimed she was targeted with personal slander. Referring to an interview Shishir Kumar gave to a private news channel, she alleged he publicly suggested she was appointed only because her husband had left her. “These remarks were made with malicious intent, and the interview is being circulated widely. I am suffering mentally, socially, and financially,” she said, urging police intervention.
Responding to the allegations, Shishir Kumar has denied all charges and said the PRO was hired through a private agency named SK Patodia, which has now issued notices to terminate the services of the PRO and other staff members.
“She did not prepare the Mayor’s speech on April 3, causing embarrassment at a public event,” Shishir claimed. “The complaint against me will be responded to with evidence. But I will be filing a defamation case against her so the truth can emerge.”
This is not the first time Shishir has faced internal accusations. Earlier, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Ramashish Sharan Tiwari had filed a complaint with Kotwali police, alleging that Shishir used obscene language and insulted his late mother during an altercation on April 3.
