Patna Municipal Corporation to Implement Separate Disposal for Dry and Wet Waste

Rs 500 Fine for Not Separating Wet and Dry Waste: Mixed Waste Collection to Stop from October 2, Training for Workers Begins Tomorrow

PATNA – The Patna Municipal Corporation is transforming the upcoming Saras Mela at Gandhi Maidan into a Zero Waste Event. Extensive preparations have been made by the Patna Municipal Corporation for Swachh Survekshan 2023. As part of this initiative, the Saras Mela premises will be kept free of waste through a Zero Waste Event format starting from December 15. All arrangements for the fair have been completed under the guidance of the Municipal Commissioner.

The Saras Mela attracts a large number of visitors daily with cultural programs and various stalls for shopping and entertainment. Therefore, waste generated, including food and drink containers, will be disposed of within the fair premises.

Dry Waste – A team from the Patna Municipal Corporation will collect dry waste and send it for processing to enable its reuse.

Wet Waste – A processing plant will be set up within the fair premises by the Patna Municipal Corporation for the processing of wet waste. This ensures that the wet waste collected during the fair is processed on-site.

In this way, the Patna Municipal Corporation aims to manage waste generated during the fair within the fairgrounds itself.

To enhance public awareness, the Patna Municipal Corporation employees will set up special stalls at the fair. These stalls will educate visitors on waste segregation, provide helpline numbers, and inform them about the facilities offered by the Patna Municipal Corporation. Additionally, various types of bins, mobile toilets, drinking water facilities, and special cleaning arrangements will be provided throughout the fairgrounds.
