Patna Municipal Corporation Urges Prompt Property Tax Payment as Deadline Approaches

Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation is intensifying efforts to encourage residents to fulfill their property tax obligations, as the deadline for the current financial year approaches on March 31. Notably, failure to comply by the due date will result in an additional penalty of 1.5%. Municipal Corporation workers are actively engaging with residents, even on holidays, to facilitate tax collection.

A significant development emerged as the checks of 99 defaulters bounced while attempting to pay Patna Municipal Corporation via cheques. In response, the Corporation is issuing legal notices to these defaulters. Approximately Rs 42 lakh, contributed by individuals through checks, remains unsettled. Failure to rectify this situation by March 31, 2024, will prompt further legal action.

In a bid to enhance accessibility for residents, all Patna Municipal Corporation counters remain operational, including Sundays and public holidays. This service will continue until March 31, 2024, ensuring convenience for taxpayers.

The success of this initiative, aimed at streamlining property tax payments and providing convenience to residents and establishments, hinges on the cooperation of city dwellers. The Corporation urges residents to collaborate with the tax collection teams and fulfill their obligations promptly, either in person or through remote payment methods.

Residents have a plethora of options to fulfill their property tax responsibilities: online payment via the official Patna Municipal Corporation portal, in-person payments at Corporation headquarters and zonal offices, dedicated counters for tax collection at Boring Road intersection and Income Tax Golambar, door-to-door tax collection services available daily from 7 am to 11 am, payment via POS machines or QR codes provided to Corporation employees, payment through popular digital wallets such as Paytm, PhonePe, and GPay, self-assessment forms available for residents to assess or reassess their taxes, and assistance for tax assessment or reassessment available by contacting the toll-free number 155304.
