Patna Police Arrests Fraudster Using OLX Sting Operation

OLX

Patna: The Gandhi Maidan police have arrested a man involved in a series of frauds on the online marketplace OLX. The police had been receiving multiple complaints about the fraudster for several days. To apprehend him, they devised a sting operation by posting a fake listing for a bike on OLX. The fraudster was caught when he came to purchase the bike.

Gandhi Maidan Police Station in-charge, Sitaram Prasad, confirmed the arrest on Wednesday night. The accused, identified as Raju, had been scamming people by buying goods on OLX and escaping after issuing fraudulent cheques. In most cases, sellers would discover that the cheque bounced due to insufficient funds in Raju’s account.

After several complaints emerged, the Patna police created an account on OLX and listed a bike for sale to lure the fraudster. Raju expressed interest in buying the bike and agreed to meet at Gandhi Maidan Gate No. 10. When he arrived to complete the transaction, posing as a buyer, the police arrested him.

Raju is currently being interrogated, and further investigations are underway to determine the extent of his fraudulent activities.
