Patna Police to Use 150 Breath Analyzers in New Year Crackdown on Drunkenness and Disorder
Patna: Patna police have announced a stringent plan to ensure law and order on the night of December 31, warning that anyone caught drinking alcohol could start the new year in police custody. Preparations include the deployment of 150 breath analyzers and equipping officers with body-worn cameras to document any incidents, particularly those involving resistance or allegations against the police.
A total of 5,000 personnel will be on duty from December 31 to the night of January 1, with officers stationed at key squares and intersections across the city. Some will be deployed in plain clothes to monitor public behavior discreetly. Additionally, teams from the excise department will conduct raids, and traffic police will be on high alert for reckless driving and other traffic violations.
To address bikers engaging in dangerous stunts or rough driving, two special teams have been formed in every police station. Speaking about the measures, Senior Superintendent of Police Rajiv Mishra emphasized that strict action will be taken against anyone causing disturbances during the celebrations.
