PATNA – Passengers on IndiGo flight 6E-126 from Patna to Pune were taken aback when the pilot, preparing for takeoff, abruptly refused to fly, citing his mental state after receiving news of his mother’s death.

The scheduled flight, set to depart from Patna to Pune at 1:30 pm, faced an unexpected turn of events as the pilot received the distressing news while the plane was on the runway. In shock and disappointment, the pilot, in the cockpit, communicated to the airline that his mental balance was compromised, making it impossible for him to operate the flight under the circumstances.

The swift decision led to the evacuation of all 162 passengers and crew members on board. IndiGo Airlines promptly arranged for a replacement pilot from Delhi to ensure the continuation of the journey to Pune. The flight eventually took off at 5 pm with the new pilot at the helm.

Passengers were understandably shocked to hear the unexpected announcement from the distressed pilot. The airline clarified that the pilot’s emotional state, triggered by the news of his mother’s demise, led to his decision to step down from his duties for the flight.

In light of the situation, all passengers were accommodated on an alternative flight to Pune, departing at 5 pm, as the airline prioritized their safety and convenience amidst the unexpected circumstances.
