Patna: A 14-year-old girl was killed by a school bus allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road in Bihar’s Patna district, in a horrifying incident that unfolded in front of her mother.

The victim, Ajal Kumari, a resident of Tejabigha village, was walking with her mother to Baikatpur when she was struck near Champapur in the Barh subdivision on Tuesday. According to eyewitnesses, the bus was being driven on the wrong side and hit the girl, before allegedly reversing and running over her again. Her mother screamed for help as the tragic scene unfolded.

The vehicle involved had no number plate, and the driver reportedly abandoned the bus and fled the scene. Local residents, angered by the recklessness and the lack of vehicle identification, staged a protest by blocking the road for several hours. They placed the girl’s body on the road, demanding immediate action.

Bakhtiyarpur MLA Anirudh Yadav visited the site and called the incident “deeply painful”. He urged authorities to provide compensation to the grieving family and demanded strict action against those responsible. Police later arrived at the scene and persuaded the protesters to lift the blockade.
