Patna: In a development that might leave even Kafka scratching his head, officials at the Barh Circle office in Patna have unwittingly crowned “Bluetooth Noise” as the newest resident of Bihar, complete with official papers naming his parents as “East Wood.”
For good measure, the certificate also features a photograph of—no, not the applicant—but an actual Bluetooth earpiece, presumably looking very dapper for its official portrait.
The curious saga began when a mischievous applicant decided to test the system’s “robust verification process” by submitting an application under the name Bluetooth Noise, with East Wood as both parents, and attaching a photo of his trusty wireless device. Lo and behold, the certificate arrived, rubber-stamped and official, as if the AirPods Pro were a voting citizen of Bihar.
“I did it to check whether anyone actually investigates before issuing certificates,” said the applicant, undoubtedly pleased to discover that the only thing faster than Bluetooth pairing is Bihar’s paperwork process.
Not to be outdone, bureaucrats in Munger recently issued a residential certificate to a Sonalika tractor—complete with the vehicle’s picture, presumably standing tall and proud on its farmland. The document has since gone viral, leaving the district administration furiously fielding calls from other farm equipment vying for their place on the voters’ list.
Barh’s Sub-Divisional Officer has promised an investigation, presumably to determine whether next week’s applicants will include WiFi Router Singh or Washing Machine Devi.
Meanwhile, citizens are left to wonder if the next election will see Bluetooth Noise running for office—and perhaps the Sonalika tractor pulling double duty as his campaign vehicle.
