Patna to Benefit from 12 New Power Substations, Boosting Electricity Supply for Six Lakh People

Patna: The construction of 12 new power substations, will significantly increase electricity supply across the district. The new infrastructure aims to benefit around six lakh people, enhancing the city’s power capacity by 192 MW.

The substations will be strategically located in various areas, including Patna Sadar, Phulwarisharif, Danapur, Fatuha, and Bihta. Key sites include the SCERT Campus, Nandlal Chhapra, Sampatchak Parsa, Kanauji Sahpur, Ranipur Jalla, Bihar Vidyapeeth, and the New Vidyut Bhawan Campus. Additionally, new substations will be built at IOCL Road Sipara, Usri Bazaar, DPS Mor, Narayana, and Sarasat.

The initiative has been approved in response to the rising demand for electricity in the region. As consumption continues to grow annually, the new substations will help alleviate the power shortage, particularly during the summer months when demand peaks. Each substation will be constructed using advanced GIS (Gas-Insulated Switchgear) technology, with a capacity of 20 MVA.

The power company has already issued tenders for the construction of the substations, and work is expected to commence shortly. The target is to complete all 12 substations by April next year.
