Patna University Student Murder: Governor Takes Action
Patna: Bihar Governor, Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, has intervened in the Harsh Raj murder case, summoning the Vice Chancellor of Patna University and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Patna. Governor Arlekar, who also serves as the Chancellor of the university, demanded comprehensive details from the officials and instructed them to take strict action against those responsible.
Expressing grave concern over the incident, the Governor emphasized the need for stringent monitoring of disruptive elements. He urged immediate police notification if any suspicious activity is detected. Additionally, he called for a collaborative and effective action plan between the district and university administration to prevent such incidents and ensure hostels are free from disruptive elements.
The murder occurred on Monday when 15 unidentified assailants attacked Harsh Raj, a student of BN College, on the Patna Law College campus. Harsh was leaving after completing his BA third-year examination when he was ambushed. The attackers threw a brick at him, causing him to fall from his motorcycle.
The group then assaulted Harsh with sticks. A friend accompanying Harsh was also attacked but managed to escape. The assailants repeatedly struck Harsh’s chest with bricks, rendering him unconscious before fleeing the scene.
In the aftermath, police arrested Chandan Yadav, identified as the mastermind behind the attack. Yadav, a student at Patna University, was apprehended in Bihta, where he resides in Amahara.
