Patna Women's College Celebrates International Women's Day with "Ojaswini-2024" Festivities

Patna: Patna Women’s College marked International Women’s Day with exuberant festivities as the “WE”, the gender cell of the college presented “Ojaswini-2024,” hosting a two-day extravaganza of inter-college events and competitions on March 7 and 9.

The second day of the celebration featured two fiercely contested inter-college competitions: “Rang Tarang,” a Rangoli Making Competition, and “Nayi Disha,” a Thematic Dance Competition. Nine distinguished colleges, along with Patna Women’s College (PWC) itself, participated zealously in both events.

Esteemed jury members presiding over the competitions included Archana Shephali Kongari, Assistant Professor at the Department of Fashion Management Studies, NIFT; Geetanjali Choudhary, Assistant Professor at the Department of Fashion Designing, PWC; and Amrita Prakash, Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Applications (BCA), PWC for Rang Tarang.

For Nayi Disha, the judging panel comprised Sudipa Bose, Head of the Department of Bharatnatyam at Bhartiya Nritya Kala Mandir, Patna; Imli Dasgupta, Dance Teacher at Tribhuvan School, Patna; and Tara Shankar Dhir, Dance Teacher at Tribhuvan School, Patna.

The Rang Tarang – Rangoli Making Competition kicked off at 9 A.M. within the PWC campus, with participants granted a two-hour window to complete their vibrant creations. Judging commenced promptly at 11:00 A.M. Nayi Disha, the Thematic Dance Competition, unfolded in the Open-Air Stage Hall from 11:30 a.m. onwards, inaugurated with a ceremonial lamp lighting.

Each participating college, including PWC, showcased enthralling dance performances revolving around the theme “Viksit Bharat ki Zimmedari: Sahbhagi Ho Har Nari.”

The two-day celebration culminated with the announcement of competition results and a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Anjali Kumari, Jt. General Secretary of the Student Council 2023-24. Rang Tarang saw PWC securing the first position, followed by College of Arts and Crafts and Rajkiya Mahila Maha Vidyalaya.

In Nayi Disha, PWC emerged victorious, with B.S. College and Magadh Mahila College securing the second and third positions respectively. The event was meticulously organized under the guidance of Cultural Coordinators: Dr. Sister Celine Crasta A.C., Head of the Department of History; Enakshi Dey Biswas, Coordinator of Performing Arts; and Puja Kumari, Assistant Professor at the Department of Commerce.
