Patna Women’s College Celebrates World Environment Day with Tree Plantation Program
Patna: The ECO Task Force of Patna Women’s College (PWC) collaborated with the NSS, and the Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department of state government to organize a tree plantation program on the occasion of World Environment Day on Wednesday. The event took place at the campus of the Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department in Kumhrar.
This year’s World Environment Day theme focused on “Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience.” With temperatures soaring above 40 degrees, the initiative aimed to provide relief from the intense heat through increased greenery. Approximately 30 shade-providing plants, including Neem, Ashok, Peepal, Chatwan, and Hoya saplings, were planted. Over 35 students from the ETF and NSS, along with 30 staff members from the Excise Department, participated in the planting.
Plants play a crucial role in our lives, offering benefits ranging from food and shelter to air purification and cooling. The rising global temperatures have underscored the importance of vegetation. Recognizing this, PWC took the initiative to raise awareness about the benefits of plants.
Teachers in attendance included Dr. Sapna Kumari, Dr. Neetu, and Rajeev Ranjan, along with Denish and Ankita Chaudary from PWC. From the Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department, notable attendees were Patna Product Assistant Commissioner Prem Prakash, Assistant Commissioner Amrita Kumari, Superintendent Group Centre Patna Ranjan Prasad, Commandant Group Centre Patna Arun Kumar, and Inspector Vijay Kumar.
